We are seeking a dedicated and qualified Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to join our team supporting students within HCPS. The TVI will work collaboratively with students, parents, teachers, and administrators to provide specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments across educational settings. This position requires strong communication skills, flexibility, compassion, and a passion for helping students reach their full potential.Position Overview:As a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) at Strides Therapy & Educational Services, you will play a vital role in supporting students with visual impairments and blindness across elementary through secondary school settings. Collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary educational team, your primary responsibility will be to provide individualized direct and consultative vision services that support students' academic access, independence, and success within the school environment.This is an itinerant position serving multiple school sites. Full-time candidates are strongly preferred; however, qualified part-time candidates will also be considered.Assignment Details:School Year: 2026-2027Assignment Dates: Starting August 2026Schedule: Full-Time Preferred | Part-Time ConsideredAdditional Details: Covering student direct and consult services in a few schools (elementary through secondary)Certified and preferred proficiency with Braille InstructionResponsibilities:Individualized Instruction & SupportProvide direct vision instruction and consultative services to students with visual impairments, including support with:Braille instructionAssistive technologyCompensatory skillsFunctional vision needsAcademic accessibilityIndependent living and organizational skillsCollaborative TeamworkWork collaboratively with Special Educators, General Education Teachers, Orientation & Mobility Specialists, School Psychologists, SLPs, OTs, PTs, and related service providers to support student success and ensure appropriate educational accommodations and modifications.Progress MonitoringMonitor student progress toward IEP goals, maintain accurate documentation, and adjust instructional strategies as needed to support student growth and achievement.CommunicationMaintain open and effective communication with students, families, school staff, and district personnel regarding student progress, services, accommodations, and recommendations.Professional DevelopmentStay current with best practices, assistive technology, Braille instruction methods, and educational strategies related to students with visual impairments.Qualifications:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education of the Visually Impaired or related fieldValid and current Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) certification/licensureExperience working with school-aged students with visual impairments preferredBraille proficiency strongly preferredAbility to manage an itinerant caseload across multiple school locationsStrong collaboration, organizational, and communication skillsDedication to ongoing professional growth and developmentBenefits:Medical, dental, and vision on day 1, employer pays 50% of the monthly cost401(k) with match and immediate vesting - 100% match for the first 3% and 50% for 4% and 5% (also a part-time benefit)$100 annual continuing education stipend40 hours PTO/sick time (also a part-time benefit)Professional liability insurance (also a part-time benefit)State Certification reimbursement$225 annual National Certification stipendCancer insurance (also a part-time benefit)Pet insurance (also a part-time benefit)Life insurance (also a part-time benefit)Catastrophe medical (also a part-time benefit)Please see our website here to learn more about us:Strides Therapy & Educational ServicesPlease contact Karen Knight, M.S.
