Qualifications and Preferred Background:

• Valid teaching certification in visual impairment or related field
• Experience instructing students who are blind or visually impaired in a school setting
• Proficiency in adapting curriculum, exemplifying patience and flexibility
• Strong collaboration skills to work in multidisciplinary teams
• Familiarity with assistive technology and Braille instruction
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instruction tailored to each student's unique learning needs
• Adapt educational materials and classroom strategies to promote accessibility
• Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and families
• Assess student progress and maintain accurate documentation
• Guide the use of adaptive technology and materials, including Braille and low-vision devices
• Advocate for students’ inclusion and accessibility across school environments
• Participate in IEP meetings and provide input on goals and accommodations
