Job Description

The Receiving Clerk / Shipping & Receiving Material Handler manages all incoming and outgoing shipments and supports internal material movement within a fast-paced, climate-controlled manufacturing warehouse. This role ensures accurate inventory flow, timely delivery of materials to production areas, and consistent adherence to safety and quality standards while operating forklifts and handling materials manually.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against packing slips and purchase orders to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare and process outgoing shipments, including packaging, labeling, and completing all required documentation.
  • Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently using appropriate material handling equipment and manual methods.
  • Move materials to and from production areas to support continuous manufacturing operations.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with cycle counts as needed to support inventory control.
  • Operate material handling equipment, including sit-down forklifts, stand-up forklifts, and pallet jacks, in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ensure the warehouse and shipping/receiving areas remain clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards and procedures.
  • Identify and communicate any discrepancies, damages, or shipment issues to leadership promptly.
  • Lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Perform material movement that consists of approximately 50% equipment operation and 50% manual handling.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience as a material handler, shipping and receiving associate, or in logistics, inventory, picking, or packing roles.
  • Proficiency operating sit-down forklifts in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency operating stand-up forklifts in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to safely operate pallet jacks for material movement.
  • Demonstrated ability to receive, inspect, and verify shipments against packing slips and purchase orders.
  • Experience preparing and processing outgoing shipments, including packaging, labeling, and documentation.
  • Ability to maintain accurate inventory and support cycle counts.
  • Capability to regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling inventory and documentation.
  • Commitment to following safety procedures and maintaining a clean, organized work area.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in shipping and receiving within a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
  • Background in inventory control, logistics, or distribution operations.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with frequent material movement.
  • Strong communication skills to report discrepancies, damages, or shipment issues effectively.
  • Ability to balance equipment operation and manual handling tasks throughout the shift.

Work Environment

This role is based in a climate-controlled manufacturing facility with an organized warehouse and shipping/receiving area. The environment involves frequent use of sit-down and stand-up forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment, combined with manual lifting of up to 50 pounds. The facility emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and adherence to safety standards, providing a structured and consistent work setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ocala, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $16.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
