Job Description

Seeking a dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) for a rewarding short-term opportunity at an elementary school, providing essential support as maternity leave coverage. The assignment begins August 17 (or as soon as possible) and continues through September 28, with a schedule of 21-28 hours per week across 3-4 days. Working onsite, you'll help foster growth and independence for students through individualized occupational therapy interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver occupational therapy services to students in accordance with established IEP goals
  • Collaborate closely with special education professionals and classroom staff
  • Support and enhance functional skills development and participation, with a focus on self-contained autism programs
  • Monitor student progress and document outcomes to inform ongoing strategies
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to planning tailored student interventions

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant training program
  • Certification from, or eligibility for, the American Occupational Therapy Association (COTA)
  • Licensed (or eligible for licensure) as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the State of Illinois
  • Previous pediatric or school-based experience highly preferred
