SunSoftOnline is seeking two detail-oriented Accounting Specialists III to join our team supporting the Agency Support Division (ASD) of a major state agency in Phoenix, AZ.

This is a senior-level administrative/accounting role responsible for supporting complex financial transactions, account reconciliations, general ledger entries, and financial data verification. The ideal candidate possesses a strong foundation in accounting principles, high accuracy in data entry, and proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel.

• Financial Processing: Process, verify, and reconcile financial transactions, accounts payable/receivable, and general ledger entries.
  

• Account Reconciliation: Audit account records, identify discrepancies, and perform complex balance adjustments.
  

• Reporting & Documentation: Prepare standard financial summaries, audit trails, and routine accounting reports for agency management.
  

• Compliance & Auditing: Review financial records for compliance with state accounting standards, regulations, and departmental policies.
  

• System Operations: Utilize state financial management systems and enterprise accounting software for high-volume data entry and processing.
  

• Education: Minimum of Some College completed (preferably coursework in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related fields).
  

• Accounting Experience: 3+ years of progressive accounting, bookkeeping, or financial support experience (Specialist III level).
  

• Software Proficiency: Strong knowledge of MS Excel (vlookups, pivot tables) and enterprise accounting or ERP systems.
  

• Data Accuracy: Fast, accurate data entry and strong attention to detail.
  

• Prior government, municipal, or state agency accounting experience.
  

• Experience with state accounting software (e.g., AFIS or similar state enterprise systems).
