Make a meaningful impact working as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in a supportive educational setting. In this contract position, you'll provide specialized instruction and services to help students with visual impairments thrive academically and develop critical life skills. Collaborate with a dedicated multidisciplinary team and make a genuine difference in the lives of students and their families.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching credential with specialization as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
  • Previous experience working with children or young adults who are visually impaired is highly valued
  • Strong understanding of Braille literacy, assistive technology, and accessible instructional materials
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultative instruction to students with visual impairments, according to IEPs and individual learning plans
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, counselors, and support staff to ensure accessible learning environments
  • Assess student progress, adjusting methodologies to improve academic and functional outcomes
  • Conduct vision assessments and develop appropriate modifications to curriculum and testing
  • Support students in developing orientation and mobility, self-advocacy, and independent living skills
  • Engage with families to facilitate their participation in the educational process and advocate for student needs
