Job Description

Make a meaningful impact by supporting students who are visually impaired in a dynamic, school-based setting near Methuen, MA. This contract opportunity seeks an experienced professional who is dedicated to fostering independence and academic growth for students with visual impairments. The position offers both full-time and part-time options for the academic year, from September 1, 2026, through June 14, 2027.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid VI Teacher License and Massachusetts DOE License (required)
  • Demonstrated success passing MTELs
  • Experience developing and delivering adaptive curriculum for students who are visually impaired
  • Strong communication skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to tailor instructional strategies and accommodations based on individual needs
  • Up-to-date knowledge of technology and resources for visually impaired learners
  • Motivated, flexible, and reliable in school-based environments

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and adapted educational support to students with visual impairments
  • Collaborate with teachers, related service providers, and families to ensure inclusive learning
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Advocate for accessible materials, assistive devices, and school-wide supports
  • Track student progress, maintain records, and attend team meetings as required
  • Offer expertise and consultation regarding accessibility, mobility, and orientation
