In this rewarding contract opportunity, your expertise as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired will make a direct impact on students’ educational journeys. Serving a school community near Homer Glen, IL, you’ll step into an influential consulting role, utilizing your specialized training in visual impairment to assist in a timely evaluation.

As the on-site specialist, your support will include conducting a functional vision assessment and a media assessment. Closely observing classroom dynamics, you’ll identify vital supports to help students succeed. Since this is an evaluation-only assignment, you’ll focus on providing targeted insights to guide future interventions.

Qualifications include:

  • Valid Illinois teaching license and appropriate certification for visually impaired education
  • CTE endorsement required
  • Prior school-based experience supporting students with visual impairments
  • Skilled in administering vision and media assessments and interpreting findings
  • Excellent observational and communication abilities
  • Comfortable working on-site (no virtual or VOCO assignments)

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct a thorough functional vision assessment and media assessment for a student
  • Observe classroom interactions and document observations clearly and comprehensively
  • Collaborate with school staff, sharing your findings and recommendations
  • Complete evaluation duties promptly and professionally, respecting the outlined timeline
