Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Director of Pharmacy experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

An interim Pharmacist in Charge/Director of Pharmacy position is available at a small, rural critical access hospital in Northern California. This facility has 25 beds and requires an experienced pharmacy leader to ensure smooth daily operations and excellent patient care.

Location: Kelseyville, CA
Job Type: Contract (approximately 13 weeks)
Schedule: Four 10-hour day shifts per week

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify medication orders with accuracy and efficiency
  • Supervise and provide guidance to pharmacy technicians
  • Consult with physicians and nursing staff on pharmaceutical care
  • Perform pharmacokinetic assessments
  • Manage staffing schedules and ensure appropriate coverage (approximately 90% of role)
  • Handle essential administrative duties to maintain regulatory compliance (approximately 10% of role)

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active California Pharmacist license
  • Prior hospital pharmacy experience, ideally in a leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of hospital pharmacy operations and medication management
  • Ability to lead a small team and communicate effectively with clinical staff
