Job Description

Make a positive impact supporting students with visual impairments in a K-12 educational setting near Haverhill, MA! This contract opportunity offers onsite instruction as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired for the 2026-2027 academic year. You’ll collaborate with a dynamic educational team and use your expertise to help students access curriculum, achieve learning goals, and advocate for their needs.

Qualifications:

  • Active Massachusetts DOE teaching license with Visually Impaired endorsement
  • Successful completion of relevant MTEL exams
  • Experience working with children or adolescents with visual impairments in a school setting preferred
  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment
  • Ability to adapt materials for students with low vision or blindness
  • Flexibility to work either full-time or part-time hours onsite

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments, grades K-12
  • Implement individualized education plans (IEPs), including progress monitoring and documentation
  • Adapt and modify instructional materials for accessibility
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and other specialists to ensure accommodations are met
  • Train staff and educate peers on best practices for supporting visually impaired learners
  • Offer consultation to families and participate in IEP meetings
  • Maintain accurate records and uphold confidentiality
