Qualifications/Requirements

  • Certified as a Sign Language Interpreter with either:
    • Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID)
    • Texas Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing: BEI I or II, or Basic under the current system
  • School-based interpreting experience is preferred
  • Must complete district-required fingerprinting and background checks
  • Ready to work on-site at the assigned school
  • Ability to work with PK–8 student population

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide sign language interpretation for students from Pre-K through 8th grade
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure accessible instruction
  • Interpret during classroom instruction, school events, meetings, and other related activities
