Make a meaningful difference in students’ lives by providing specialized instruction as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired in a supportive educational setting. This contract opportunity centers on ensuring that students with visual impairments receive the resources and tailored teaching they need to thrive academically and build essential life skills.

What you bring:

  • Current certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Experience teaching students with visual impairments in school settings
  • Strong understanding of assistive technology, braille, and adapted instructional materials
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers, families, and support staff
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Adaptability and creative problem-solving abilities

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
  • Provide direct instruction in areas such as academic subjects, orientation and mobility, and use of adaptive tools and technology
  • Assess students’ functional vision and learning needs, documenting progress and adjusting plans as necessary
  • Work closely with educational teams to modify curriculum and create an inclusive classroom environment
  • Serve as a resource and advocate for students, supporting accessibility and classroom participation
  • Educate staff and families on best practices and strategies for visual impairments in the school setting
