This role ensures the facility remains clean, functional, and compliant through timely repairs, preventive maintenance, and system monitoring.This position requires strong technical expertise across HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems in a healthcare environment.What You'll DoMaintain hospital equipment, systems, and grounds in safe working conditionPerform preventative maintenance and ensure all scheduled PMs are completed monthlyTroubleshoot, repair, and replace HVAC, electrical, and plumbing componentsRead and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and ladder diagramsMaintain boilers, compressors, pumps, cooling towers, and related systemsComplete and document all work orders using the TMS systemRespond to unplanned maintenance issues and urgent repair needsSupport minor construction and facility improvement projectsOrder and retrieve supplies needed for repairs and maintenance tasksEnsure accurate documentation of all maintenance and asset recordsMaintain compliance with safety standards and hospital regulationsCore Technical RequirementsCandidates must demonstrate comprehensive knowledge in HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing systems, including:HVAC SystemsInstallation, repair, and maintenance of HVAC components (compressors, condensers, evaporators)Steam systems, pumps, chemical treatment systems, and cooling towersAbility to read ladder diagrams and technical schematicsElectrical SystemsAC/DC electrical theory and troubleshootingPower distribution systems (transformers, breakers, load centers, MCCs)Lighting and building electrical systemsInterpretation of electrical diagrams and schematicsPlumbing SystemsPipe fitting, tubing, and system assemblySoldering, brazing, welding, cementing, and caulking techniquesMaintenance and repair of facility plumbing systemsPosition DetailsPosition: Facility Maintenance Technician IIIDepartment: Plant OperationsLocation: Gateway Regional Medical Center2100 Madison AvenueGranite City, IL 62040Status: Full-TimeSchedule: Nights | 8-hour shifts | 40 hrs/weekEvery other weekend + on-call rotationEducation & QualificationsAssociate degree or technical school training in a related trade OREquivalent certification with 6+ years of trade experience ORMilitary technical training equivalentRequired: Valid driver's licenseExperienceJourneyman-level knowledge of general maintenance trades requiredMaster-level expertise in at least one trade (HVAC, Electrical, or Plumbing)Experience in a hospital or regulated facility environment preferredWhy Join Gateway?Competitive pay: $20.41–$30.61/hourComprehensive medical, dental, and vision insuranceRetirement plan with employer matchPaid vacation and holiday timeShift differentialsStable, mission-driven healthcare environmentOpportunity to support critical infrastructure that directly impacts patient careCompensationCompensation is based on education, experience, certifications, and technical expertise.
