JOB TITLE: Security Officer
Fremont, OH 43420

POSITION TYPE: Local – 100% Onsite

SCHEDULE: Full-Time – Night Shift
• SHIFT TIMES: 11:00 PM–7:30 AM
• Week 1: Monday - Thursday & Saturday
• Week 2: Sunday - Monday & Wednesday - Friday
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required: 1 summer holiday and 1 winter holiday

CONTRACT TYPE: 13 weeks initially, with potential opportunity to extend and/or convert to a permanent ProMedica position based on performance, work ethic, and ongoing department needs.

START DATE: ASAP

IMPORTANT CALL OUTS
• This is an unarmed Security Officer position; officers do not carry firearms.
• Driving is required. Security Officers will operate a hospital Security Cruiser.
• Candidates must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record/MVR and receive approval to operate a ProMedica vehicle.
• Prior Security Officer experience is not required.
• IAHSS Basic Security Officer Certification is required within the first 6 months of working, but candidates do not need to hold the certification prior to starting.
• Agencies may prioritize candidates who already hold the IAHSS Basic Security Officer Certification.
• If the candidate does not already hold the certification, the agency must ensure a plan is established with the candidate to obtain it within 6 months of working.
• The IAHSS Basic eLearning Course + Basic Certification Exam currently costs approximately $130: IAHSS Basic eLearning Course & Certification Exam
• CPR certification will be completed at Fremont.
• At least 1 week of training will be provided alongside another Security Officer to learn ProMedica policies and procedures.
• 2 days of De-escalation and Response to Resistance and Aggression training will be completed at ProMedica headquarters in Toledo. Training is paid and mileage is included.
• There is only 1 Security Officer assigned per shift.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
• High school diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:
• Previous Security Officer experience is not required.
• Candidates without direct security experience may be considered.
• Candidates should demonstrate a stable work history. The manager prefers candidates who have demonstrated job stability rather than frequent job changes.

CERTIFICATIONS:
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record/MVR.
• IAHSS Basic Security Officer Certification must be obtained within the first 6 months of working; certification is not required prior to starting.
• CPR certification will be completed through ProMedica at Fremont.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to accurately document and report incidents, accidents, and hazards.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be eligible and approved to operate a ProMedica Security Cruiser.
• Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to work independently as the only Security Officer assigned to the shift.
• Must report to work reliably, on time, and prepared for the assigned shift.
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including assisting with and restraining combative patients when necessary.
• Ability to work the required rotating schedule, weekends, and holidays.
• Flexibility to assist with additional coverage is preferred

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Promote and maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, employees, and others throughout the hospital.
• Monitor hospital facilities and respond appropriately to safety and security concerns.
• Assist patients, visitors, and others with questions and directions throughout the facility.
• Regulate and control traffic as needed.
• Perform parking enforcement and traffic control duties.
• Operate a ProMedica Security Cruiser as required by the position.
• Investigate and report accidents, hazards, security concerns, and incidents.
• Accurately document security-related events and activities.
• Respond to incidents requiring Security involvement throughout the hospital.
• Assist with restraining combative patients when necessary and in accordance with hospital policies and training.
• Apply de-escalation and appropriate response techniques when managing challenging or potentially aggressive situations.
• Follow hospital Security policies, procedures, and established safety protocols.
• Maintain required training and certifications throughout the assignment.
• Work independently as the sole Security Officer assigned to the shift while communicating and collaborating effectively with hospital staff and the broader Security team.
