Employment Type: 1-Year W2 Contract
Pay Rate: $65–$70/hour
Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 4 days onsite / 1 day remote
Location: Chatsworth, CA or Pico Rivera, CA
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Corrosion & Integrity Engineer to support pipeline and equipment integrity programs for our public utility client. This role will focus on corrosion management, pipeline integrity assessments, cathodic protection, inspection activities, and the development and implementation of corrosion mitigation strategies.
The ideal candidate will have strong technical experience evaluating pipeline integrity threats, including corrosion, dents, and crack-like features, as well as advanced knowledge of In-Line Inspection (ILI), Direct Assessment (DA), Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE), and pipeline repair practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and support Fitness-for-Service (FFS) evaluations for corrosion, dents, cracks, and other pipeline integrity features using applicable methodologies and tools such as API 579, CorLAS, RSTRENG, MAT-8, and related industry practices.
- Review and evaluate ILI and Direct Assessment data to support pipeline integrity decisions, repair recommendations, and mitigation activities.
- Support corrosion monitoring programs for pipelines, facilities, and associated equipment.
- Develop, implement, maintain, and update corrosion control and mitigation strategies.
- Support cathodic protection (CP) programs, including maintenance and repair activities associated with CP systems.
- Evaluate inspection and assessment results and provide technically sound recommendations regarding pipeline conditions and required corrective actions.
- Support Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) activities and apply appropriate inspection methods and practices to integrity assessments.
- Coordinate pipeline integrity activities, including pigging operations, pipeline servicing, and in-line inspections.
- Support material investigations and evaluations related to corrosion and equipment or pipeline integrity.
- Assist with the development and execution of appropriate pipeline repair strategies.
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation, inspection records, integrity data, and supporting technical documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Demonstrated experience performing Fitness-for-Service evaluations involving corrosion, dents, and/or crack features.
- Experience with applicable assessment methodologies and tools such as API 579, CorLAS, RSTRENG, MAT-8, or similar.
- Advanced knowledge of In-Line Inspection (ILI) and Direct Assessment (DA) methodologies.
- Strong knowledge of Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) methods and practices.
- Experience evaluating pipeline assessment data and making engineering recommendations based on inspection and integrity findings.
- Knowledge of pipeline repair methods and corrosion mitigation practices.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate technical documentation and records.
- Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, and written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualification
- NACE CP1 certification (or equivalent AMPP certification) is highly desired.
Interview Process
Candidates should expect multiple rounds of interviews, including an interview with the hiring/host manager followed by a panel-style interview with three supervisors.
