Make an impact in the lives of students with a rewarding full-time contract opportunity as a skilled School Counselor. This position offers 37.5 hours per week of meaningful engagement working with elementary students and staff, providing crucial support for their academic, social, and emotional development.

You will serve as a pivotal resource in the school community, helping students navigate a wide range of concerns while collaborating closely with teachers, administrators, and families. Your expertise will guide students toward thoughtful goal setting, positive conflict resolution, and smooth transitions as they move through key developmental stages.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Successful completion of a state-approved Counselor Preparation Program
  • Eligibility for state licensure and any required endorsements according to Virginia and School Board regulations

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise and counsel students on academic, career, and personal/social challenges
  • Assess needs and plan the use of resources for effective student support
  • Utilize multiple assessment strategies to help students set and reach goals
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing constructive, actionable feedback
  • Provide mediation and conflict resolution when necessary
  • Collaborate with staff to aid students’ transitions and overall growth
  • Maintain confidential records and respect student privacy
  • Consult with parents, teachers, and administrators as needed
  • Coordinate referrals for specialized services in partnership with building leadership
  • Participate in faculty committees, curriculum development, and student activities
  • Report concerns regarding student safety or wellbeing as required
  • Demonstrate professional integrity and ongoing commitment to growth and licensure
