Job Description

Make a difference in the lives of students by providing specialized instruction as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired on a contract basis. This opportunity focuses on supporting students with a range of visual needs in a rewarding, school-based environment. You’ll work on-site, collaborating with educators and staff to help approximately 20–23 students reach their potential.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid North Carolina Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) license or equivalent certification
  • Demonstrated experience working with students with visual impairments preferred
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to develop and adapt instructional materials and strategies for diverse learning needs
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and accessible educational setting

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments in a school environment
  • Assess student needs and develop individualized educational plans (IEPs)
  • Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to coordinate and implement accommodations and modifications
  • Maintain thorough documentation of student progress and participate in meetings as part of the special education team
  • Offer orientation and mobility skills training as appropriate to support student independence

This contract position offers the consistency of a full-time, 37.5 hours per week schedule for the academic year, beginning as soon as possible through late spring 2027. You’ll find meaningful work and the chance to impact a diverse caseload in a collaborative educational community.
