Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Experience working with students who are blind or have visual impairments
• Familiarity with Braille instruction, assistive technology, and adaptive learning strategies
• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to adapt lessons and materials to meet individualized student needs

Responsibilities:

• Assess students’ functional vision and educational needs as part of the IEP/504 process
• Develop and implement specialized instruction for students with visual impairments
• Teach Braille, utilize assistive technology, and adapt classroom materials
• Provide direct and consultative services to students, teachers, and school staff
• Collaborate with families to promote independence and learning at home and school
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to progress reports and meetings
