A leadership opportunity is available for a Director of Pharmacy to drive the transformation of pharmacy services into a strategic enterprise within a community-focused healthcare organization. This role is based in Kansas City, MO, offering candidates local placement or the option to relocate.

The Director of Pharmacy will be accountable for ensuring excellence in clinical pharmacy services, regulatory compliance, and financial sustainability, with a strong emphasis on optimizing the HRSA 340B Drug Pricing Program. Acting as the chief pharmacy advisor to executive leadership and the Board, this position shapes medication strategy, pharmacy operations, and business development aligned with improving access and health equity for underserved populations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead all pharmacy operations, including strategic planning, staffing, process optimization, inventory, and quality improvement.
  • Oversee 340B program integrity, compliance, audit readiness, and resource maximization to support organizational goals.
  • Manage pharmacy financial performance with oversight of budgeting, revenue management, contract negotiations, and specialty pharmacy growth strategies.
  • Serve as Pharmacist-in-Charge, ensuring regulatory compliance and security related to controlled substances and operational inspections.
  • Collaborate with clinical and executive teams to advance patient-centered care models and improve medication adherence and outcomes.
  • Develop and implement pharmacy policies, maintain accreditation standards, and promote continuous quality improvement.
  • Direct recruitment, staff development, and performance management to foster a high-performing team.
  • Provide clinical pharmacy oversight and support therapeutic decision-making within the care delivery model.
  • Cultivate strategic partnerships with internal departments and external stakeholders to enhance pharmacy services and 340B program success.
  • Maintain subject-matter expertise through ongoing education and engagement with industry trends.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited college of pharmacy.
  • Minimum seven years outpatient pharmacy supervisory experience.
  • At least three years experience with outpatient pharmacy 340B, FQHC, HRSA, and AAAHC standards.Preferred Credentials:
  • Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist (BCACP).
  • 340B University On-Demand certification.
  • 340B Advanced Operations Certificate (340B ACE).

Working Conditions:This role requires a healthcare facility environment with exposure to infectious agents and potential contact with patients experiencing trauma. Some travel to community sites or meetings may be necessary. Physical activities include standing, walking, and occasional lifting up to 20 pounds. Strong communication, problem-solving, and multi-tasking abilities are essential.
