Make a meaningful impact in the lives of students as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing in a supportive school environment near Tacoma, WA. This full-time, full school year contract position offers the opportunity to work with a small caseload, allowing for more personalized instruction and dedicated support for each student. You’ll be part of a collaborative team working to ensure success and inclusion for every learner.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold a current, active Washington teaching license for Deaf/Hard of Hearing.
  • Demonstrated experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication skills, both in spoken and signed modalities, are essential.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, families, and outside service providers.
  • Passion for creating accessible and engaging educational experiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in various school settings.
  • Develop, implement, and modify Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) based on student needs.
  • Utilize effective teaching strategies and adaptive technology to ensure access to curriculum.
  • Foster communication development, advocacy skills, and confidence in students.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure accommodations and inclusion.
  • Communicate regularly with families to provide updates on progress and strategies for home use.
