Make a meaningful impact as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired supporting students across multiple schools in a dynamic district near Joliet, IL. This contract opportunity is available for the upcoming academic year, starting as soon as possible and running through December, with the potential to extend for the full school year. The role involves collaborating with diverse teams and traveling between several school sites, ensuring quality education and support for visually impaired students.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired and/or Orientation & Mobility Specialist (O&M)
  • Experience working with children who are visually impaired, preferably in educational settings
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Adaptability to work across multiple campuses and shifting caseloads
  • Capability to travel throughout the district as required

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments in three schools for TVI and three schools for O&M (subject to change)
  • Develop, implement, and assess individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs
  • Consult and collaborate with general education teachers, special educators, and family members
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and adaptive technology to maximize student independence and academic progress
  • Maintain detailed records and documentation as required by district and state guidelines
  • Foster a supportive, inclusive learning environment
