Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Owens Cross Roads, Alabama

Step into a meaningful role as a full-time Sign Language Interpreter, supporting the needs of a student through a 1:1 assignment at the elementary level. In this school-based position, you’ll have the rewarding opportunity to make a daily impact in an educational setting, collaborating closely with teachers, administrators, and the wider educational team. This assignment will run through May 28, 2027, with work hours aligned to the school schedule (Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM).

Qualifications:

• Valid Alabama Sign Language Interpreter license or permit required
• Nationally recognized interpreting certification strongly preferred (RID, EIPA, BEI, or similar)
• Experience in a school-based setting preferred
• Previous work providing 1:1 support for students is a major plus
• Excellent communication skills and a high degree of professionalism
• Strong commitment to reliability—punctuality and consistent attendance are a must
• Ability to work the full school schedule without modifications

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver 1:1 interpreting services for a designated student throughout the full school day
• Foster clear communication among students, teachers, and staff
• Maintain confidentiality and advocacy for student needs
• Collaborate effectively within the educational team
• Support the student’s engagement, learning, and participation in all class activities and school events
• Adhere to all district, school, and professional interpreting standards and guidelines
