Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a skilled educator supporting students who are blind or visually impaired in schools near Elgin, IL. This dynamic role offers the chance to make a meaningful difference across multiple buildings throughout a thriving school district. You'll collaborate with staff, students, and families to create an accessible, empowering educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI), delivering services and support across three designated schools
  • Support Orientation and Mobility (O&M) needs across three additional schools, guiding students to develop safe and confident travel skills
  • Adapt curriculum materials and classroom environments for accessible learning
  • Evaluate students’ functional vision and work with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and families
  • Travel between assigned schools as scheduled; assignments are subject to change based on district needs
  • Maintain accurate documentation on student progress and services provided

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

  • Illinois state certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) required
  • O&M certification preferred or relevant O&M experience considered
  • Previous experience working with students with visual impairments strongly valued
  • Ability to develop and implement appropriate accommodations and modifications
  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work across multiple school sites

Schedule & Assignment Details:

  • Contract position, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM
  • Start: ASAP through December 18, 2026, with potential for extension to the full academic year
  • Travel between multiple schools within the district
