Nexus Employment is seeking a full-time MIG Welding Fabrication Technician to join a metal manufacturing team in Danville, IL. Step into a hands-on role where accuracy, safety, and pride in workmanship drive every shift.

A day in the life

Your morning starts with blueprint review and setting up MIG (and occasionally TIG or Stick) equipment. You position jigs, verify measurements, and dial in heat settings before the first arc. Throughout the day you move and position heavy metal components, lay out and execute clean welds, and perform hourly weld tests and inspections to keep quality on spec. You read, calculate, and confirm dimensions, make real-time adjustments, and maintain a clean, organized work area. Before you clock out, you tidy the cell and prepare for the next production run.

What you’ll do
  • Set up and operate welding equipment (MIG primary; TIG/Stick exposure valued)
  • Interpret blueprints, diagrams, and fabrication sketches
  • Meet quality standards; prevent rework through precise technique
  • Complete hourly weld tests and document quality checks
  • Lift, position, and move heavy metal parts; stand, crouch, and bend for extended periods
  • Monitor weld pools and adjust heat settings as conditions change
  • Measure and calculate dimensions with accuracy
  • Keep the work area clean and organized; perform additional duties as assigned
Compensation & schedule
  • Full-time with weekly pay
  • Starting at $22/hour
  • 1st Shift: Monday–Thursday, 6:00am–4:30pm

  • Previous stainless-steel welding experience preferred
