Make a positive impact on students’ lives by providing specialized support as a Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. This contract position offers the opportunity to work closely with students, staff, and families to foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Utilize your expertise to promote academic achievement and social development, helping each student reach their full potential.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification or credential in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
  • Experience working with school-age children and adolescents in educational settings
  • Familiarity with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and ability to implement modifications
  • Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and understanding of current assistive technology
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and interdisciplinary teams

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in individual, small group, and classroom settings
  • Develop and adapt lesson plans to meet diverse communication needs
  • Monitor progress and maintain accurate documentation to ensure compliance with educational goals
  • Serve as a resource and advocate, offering guidance and training to staff and peers regarding best practices in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other service providers
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of student-centered goals and strategies
