Job Title: Cabinetry General LaborerJob Description

This entry-level role supports the production of custom cabinetry in a busy shop environment. You will prepare boards, sand and assemble components, and help create finished cabinets, with the opportunity to learn additional tasks such as staining and machine operation over time. The position is hands-on, physically active, and ideal for someone with strong mechanical aptitude who enjoys working with tools and building things from the ground up.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare boards and components for cabinet assembly by sanding, inspecting, and organizing materials.
  • Assemble custom cabinets and related components using hand tools, power tools, and hardware according to specifications.
  • Read and accurately use a tape measure to ensure precise cuts, fits, and alignments during assembly.
  • Support finishing operations such as sanding and, over time, potentially staining, spraying, and painting cabinet components.
  • Operate shop equipment and machinery as directed after an initial training period, following all safety procedures.
  • Lift and move materials and components weighing up to 30 pounds regularly throughout the shift.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including working safely in and around sawdust and shared shop equipment.
  • Assist as a helper or floater by supporting various tasks across the shop, including material handling and basic production duties.
  • Follow production instructions and work orders with attention to detail to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Demonstrate reliable attendance and communicate proactively about any scheduling or attendance issues.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to read and accurately use a tape measure.
  • Previous experience using hand tools at home or at work, with specific and extensive examples of projects or tasks.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort assembling items without detailed instructions.
  • Ability to stand for a 10-hour shift.
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds on a regular basis.
  • At least 6 months of labor or manufacturing experience for helper or floater responsibilities.
  • Attention to detail when handling materials, measuring, and assembling components.
  • Willingness to work in a dusty environment around sawdust.
  • Consistent and reliable attendance with clear communication regarding schedule or absences.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with cabinetry, woodworking, or general labor in a shop environment.
  • Familiarity with assembling furniture, shelving, or similar items, even in informal or home settings.
  • Basic experience with spraying, staining, or painting wood surfaces.
  • Comfort using power tools in addition to hand tools, with appropriate safety awareness.
  • Willingness to learn machine operation after an initial training period.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a helper or floater supporting different areas of the shop.
Why Work Here?

You will join a shop that offers steady work, hands-on learning, and the chance to develop valuable cabinetry and woodworking skills. The team provides opportunities for voluntary overtime on Friday afternoons and Saturdays, allowing you to increase your earnings when desired. You can grow your abilities over time by learning new tasks, including finishing and machine operation, in a supportive and practical environment.

Work Environment

This role is based in a cabinetry shop where you will work in and around sawdust and wood materials throughout the day. The shop is well ventilated but not climate controlled, so temperatures will vary with the seasons. You will use hand tools, power tools, and, after training, may work with additional machinery and finishing equipment such as sprayers. Shifts are long and require standing for up to 10 hours, regular lifting of 30 pounds, and consistent physical activity. The environment is production-focused, safety-conscious, and geared toward teamwork and efficient workflow.
