Job Title: CNC Mill Machinist / Programmer – Prototype Shop

Job Description

This role is a hands-on CNC mill machinist/programmer position in a medium-sized prototype machine shop working with a wide variety of 3- and 5-axis CNC mills. You will program using Gibbscam, perform complex setups, and take parts from print to finished product for diverse customers in industries such as medical device, aerospace, defense, and high technology. The work is primarily short-run, tight-tolerance machining in a clean, quality-focused environment.

Responsibilities

  • Program 3- and 5-axis CNC mills using Gibbscam software for prototype and short-run production work.
  • Perform complete machine setups, including tooling selection, tool changes, and part fixturing for multiple jobs per day.
  • Execute touch-offs, G- and M-code edits, and on-machine adjustments to optimize machining processes and ensure part quality.
  • Interpret engineering prints and customer specifications to produce accurate parts from print to finished product.
  • Machine a variety of materials, including plastics, aluminum, stainless steel, and titanium, while maintaining tight tolerances.
  • Run primarily short-run jobs, typically 1–2 pieces and up to approximately 50-piece production runs.
  • Follow ISO 9001 quality standards and shop procedures to ensure consistent, high-quality output for medical device and aerospace components.

Essential Skills

  • Experience programming and running CNC mills in a prototype or short-run job shop environment.
  • Proficiency with Gibbscam or similar CAM software for programming 3- and 5-axis CNC mills.
  • Strong ability to perform CNC mill setups, including tooling, fixturing, tool changes, and machine offsets.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and prints to produce accurate, print-to-part components.

The role is based in a clean, ISO 9001-certified machine shop that specializes in tight-tolerance work for medical device, aerospace, defense, and high-technology applications. The shop operates a variety of modern 3- and 5-axis CNC mills Hass machines. The environment is organized and quality-focused, with flexible shift times and access to new equipment and a recently expanded 40,000-square-foot facility.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Blaine, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $83000.00/yr.
