Maintenance Mechanic – Food Manufacturing

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to support the safe and efficient operation of food production equipment. The Maintenance Mechanic will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and equipment installations while ensuring compliance with food safety, quality, and workplace safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on food processing and packaging equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment issues.
  • Diagnose equipment failures and complete repairs in a timely manner to minimize production downtime.
  • Maintain and repair conveyors, mixers, fillers, pumps, motors, gearboxes, packaging machines, and other production equipment.
  • Perform equipment changeovers, adjustments, and calibrations as required.
  • Inspect machinery and identify potential safety or operational issues.
  • Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance activities and maintain accurate maintenance records.
  • Assist with equipment installation, modification, and improvement projects.
  • Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and all safety guidelines.
  • Maintain tools, parts, and work areas in an organized and safe condition.
  • Support production teams with equipment-related issues to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Follow food safety, sanitation, and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) requirements.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training preferred.
  • 2+ years of mechanical maintenance experience in food manufacturing, industrial, or production environments preferred.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Experience with conveyors, motors, pumps, bearings, belts, and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to read equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, and schematics.
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting and basic electrical systems.
  • Welding, fabrication, machining, or machining tool experience.
  • Knowledge of food processing equipment and sanitation requirements.
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment.
Certifications (Preferred):
  • Industrial Maintenance Certification
  • Electrical or Mechanical Technical Training
  • OSHA Safety Training
  • Food safety/GMP training
Work Environment:
  • Food manufacturing plant environment.
  • May require working around production machinery, temperature-controlled areas, and cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment parts and tools.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and elevated areas when required
