Job Description

Join Our Team as an Engineering Technician – Interior Communications!

Join Phoenix Group as a Combat Systems & Shipboard Electronics Subject Matter Expert (SME) for our Carrier Transition Team (CXT). We are seeking a seasoned, ideally with a background as an Interior Communications (IC), Electronics Technician (ET), Electrician’s Mate (EM), or Fire Controlman (FC/FCA), to play a key role in collaborating with Ship’s Force to identify and resolve critical issues during an aircraft carrier’s Refueling and Complex Overhaul (RCOH).

The ideal candidate has "lived the life" of a senior shipboard technician or division LCPO. You possess an expert-level understanding of naval electronic systems, interior communications, alarm/indicative networks, or ship's control and combat systems, combined with a strong shipyard maintenance background. In this role, you will bridge the gap between Ship's Force, the shipyard, and repair activities, troubleshooting complex technical problems and ensuring system restoration success.

You will work closely with the crew to navigate the variances of system restoration, modernization, and testing in an intense RCOH environment. Your mission will be to provide immediate technical assistance, eliminate schedule risks, train and mentor sailors, and ensure Ship's Force is prepared for operational success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be proactive and embedded with Ship’s Force, becoming a trusted, integral part of the Combat Systems and Electrical departments.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor knowledgeable of CVN shipboard electronic/electrical systems, maintenance processes, and RCOH testing milestones.
  • Provide mentorship and training to Combat Systems, IC, and electrical personnel on best practices for system restoration, testing, and ordering/tracking critical materials in RCOH.
  • Proactively assist the crew in identifying discrepancies in technical system installations, wiring, and testing procedures to prevent production work stoppages.
  • Partner with Ship’s Force to anticipate and eliminate potential risks to the production schedule, particularly those related to system integration, tag-out delays, and material availability.
  • Help shape CXT’s short-term and long-term objectives to align with the overarching carrier modernization mission.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 8+ years of CVN (Carrier) Combat Systems, Interior Communications (IC), Electronics (ET), or Electrical (EM) maintenance, operation, and modernization experience is highly desired. This must include hands-on experience in a shipyard environment, with a strong preference for RCOH or major availability experience.
  • Background: A proven track record as a senior Navy technician (E-5 to E-9, CWO, or LDO) within a CVN Combat Systems or Electrical/Auxiliaries division. Extensive experience interfacing with Navy maintenance, repair, and shipyard testing divisions is highly valued.
  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in engineering, electronics, or a related technical area may be substituted for up to 4 years of experience.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills. Strong leadership and mentoring skills to support training and development initiatives.
  • Deep familiarity with Navy Tag-out procedures (TUMS), Work Authorization Forms (WAFs), and the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM).
  • Solid understanding of the unique challenges of restoring, integrating, and testing shipboard electronic equipment, cabling (copper and fiber), and communications during a CVN availability.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics to assist in troubleshooting and system validation.
  • U.S. Citizenship and eligibility for a SECRET security clearance.

Why Join Phoenix Group?

  • Comprehensive Benefits Package: Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Innovation-Drive Culture: Work with cutting-edge tools and technologies while solving challenging problems that make a difference.
  • Collaboration & Growth: Join a talented team of professionals, including Senior Government Officials, in an environment that supports your growth and career development.
  • Mission-Driven Work: Your efforts directly support naval operations and national security.
  • Unmatched Culture: Work with a team that values diversity, collaboration, and excellence.
