Job Description

At Journey to Dream, you'll work with youth ages 14–19 who have experienced trauma, homelessness, abuse, neglect, and instability. They don't need someone to rescue them they need a steady, dependable adult who creates safety, maintains structure, and leads with compassion, consistency, boundaries, and accountability.

As a Youth Engagement Specialist (YES), you play a critical role in maintaining a safe, structured, and well-managed environment while our youth sleep. This is a position that requires attentiveness, strong judgment, initiative, and the ability to work independently while consistently following policies and procedures.

Overnight staff are responsible for completing required room and safety checks, supervising youth who are awake during overnight hours, responding appropriately to behavioral concerns or emergencies, and ensuring the campus remains safe and secure.

The overnight shift also plays an essential role in maintaining the operational readiness of Kyle's Place. Responsibilities include auditing medications and medication documentation, completing required facility and safety checks, cleaning and organizing assigned areas of the facility, inventorying the pantry, refrigerators, freezers, and household supplies, monitoring food storage and expiration dates, and reporting items that need to be reordered or addressed.

Overnight staff is also responsible for document management, including reviewing records for completeness, organizing and filing documentation, identifying missing signatures or required information, and helping ensure youth records, logs, and operational documents are accurate and ready for compliance reviews and audits.

We're looking for professionals who:

  • Stay awake, alert, and engaged throughout the entire shift.
  • Can work independently and complete assigned responsibilities without constant supervision.
  • Remain calm and make sound decisions during emergencies or difficult situations.
  • Follow policies, procedures, safety protocols, and documentation requirements consistently.
  • Maintain healthy boundaries while treating youth with dignity, compassion, and respect.
  • Balance empathy with accountability and structure.
  • Pay close attention to detail and recognize when something is missing, incorrect, unsafe, or needs follow-up.
  • Are comfortable completing cleaning, inventory, organizational, and administrative responsibilities.
  • Communicate clearly and provide thorough shift documentation and handoffs to incoming staff.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a professional team.
  • Show up consistently, on time, and ready to work—even when the job is challenging.
  • Are at least 25 years of age.
  • Can successfully pass a comprehensive background check.
  • Possess a current, valid driver's license and meet organizational driving requirements.

This is a babysitting role, or simply a caregiving job. Youth Engagement Specialists are responsible for youth safety, facility operations, regulatory compliance, accurate documentation, and preparing the campus for the next day.

You may be the steady adult a young person turns to during a difficult night. You may also be the person who identifies a safety concern, catches a medication documentation error, ensures critical records are audit-ready, or prepares the facility so the next shift can successfully serve our youth.

If you're dependable, emotionally grounded, detail-oriented, comfortable working independently, and passionate about helping young people build safer and more successful futures, we'd love to meet you.

Be the reason a young person feels safe tonight and believes in their future tomorrow. Apply today. Weekends required
