Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Employment Specialist to support individuals in achieving meaningful employment opportunities. This role involves working closely with diverse populations, including individuals with developmental disabilities and autism, to provide tailored employment services, mentorship, and training.
Duties
- Develop individualized employment plans based on client needs, strengths, and goals
- Build and maintain relationships with local employers, staffing agencies, and community partners
- Identify and secure competitive integrated employment opportunities aligned with participant goals, abilities, and support needs
- Support participants through job placement, stabilization, and retention phases
- Provide follow-along and long-term employment supports for assigned caseload.
- Address workplace challenges and coordinate accommodations or additional supports
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation for assigned caseload
- Communicate regularly with participantregarding participant progress
- Ensure compliance with confidentiality, HIPAA, and agency policies
- Collaborate with internal staff, families, service providers to ensure coordinated supports
- Conduct vocational assessments, employment discovery, and career exploration activities
- Develop and implement individualized employment plans aligned with Person-Centered Plans (PCP)
- Provide job readiness training, including resumes, interview preparation, workplace expectations, soft skills, and self-advocacy
- Conduct interviews and assessments to determine clients’ skills, interests, and barriers to employment
- Provide job coaching, mentoring, and ongoing support to ensure successful job placement and retention
- Assist clients with resume writing, interview preparation, and skill development through training sessions
- Collaborate with employers to identify suitable job opportunities and facilitate workplace accommodation
- Maintain accurate records of client progress and employment outcomes in compliance with organizational policies
Qualification
- Experience working with people with developmental disabilities and autism is highly desirable
- Skills in counseling, mentoring, interviewing, teaching, and training & development
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations
- Excellent communication skills for engaging clients and collaborating with employers
- Compassionate approach with a commitment to supporting individuals’ growth and self-sufficiency
