Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Description
The Registered Nurse provides coordinated medical and health services to residents under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and Director of Medical Services. The RN is responsible for medication administration, medical assessments, care coordination, documentation, and health education in a residential psychiatric treatment setting. The RTF is a coeducational residential program serving youth ages 12–18 with significant psychiatric and behavioral health needs, including histories of psychiatric hospitalization and juvenile justice involvement.
Key Responsibilities-
Clinical Care
- Assess medical complaints and provide first aid as needed
- Administer and monitor medications
- Obtain vital signs, height/weight measurements, EKGs, PPD placements, and laboratory work
- Conduct admission assessments
- Support Emergency Safety Interventions (Client) and physical holds
- Provide health education and wellness groups

Medication Management
- Prepare and distribute medications
- Perform medication counts and monitor inventory
- Coordinate prescription refills and pharmacy orders
- Restock medication bins accurately
- Prepare medications for resident home visits
- Monitor medication expiration dates

Care Coordination
- Schedule and coordinate medical appointments
- Communicate with guardians regarding appointments and follow-up care
- Serve as liaison with physicians, pediatricians, specialists, and emergency medical services
- Participate in treatment planning meetings and resident admissions

Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate nursing notes and assessments
- Manage controlled substance logs
- Maintain vaccine refrigerator logs and other required records
- Scan and update records in electronic health record systems
- Prepare discharge documentation and medication arrangements
7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Schedule Rotation-
Week 1
- Wednesday: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Thursday: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM

- Wednesday: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Sunday: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Weekend availability required
- Holiday availability required
- Flexibility to pick up additional shifts preferred
- Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience
- Strong clinical assessment and nursing skills
- Experience in psychiatric or behavioral health settings
- Experience working with pediatric/adolescent populations
- Strong crisis intervention and de-escalation skills
- Experience in residential treatment, inpatient, or youth-focused environments
