We are looking for an experienced Director of Fund Accounting to provide finance and accounting leadership for a private equity real estate investment platform in San Francisco, California. This Long-term Contract opportunity is well suited to a hands-on, detail-oriented individual who can oversee fund and management company accounting while supporting accurate reporting, cash oversight, and close activities. The position will also guide a fund accounting resource and help maintain strong financial operations across the organization.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the full accounting function for private equity real estate funds and the related management company, ensuring accurate and timely financial operations.
• Oversee month-end and period-end close activities, including review of journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Prepare and review financial statements, investor reporting materials, and other fund-level reporting deliverables for completeness and accuracy.
• Monitor cash activity, liquidity needs, and capital flows to support informed financial decision-making across the investment platform.
• Supervise and mentor the fund accountant, providing direction, quality control, and support for day-to-day accounting work.
• Coordinate capital activity processes, including contributions, distributions, and related accounting records.
• Partner with leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to strengthen accounting processes, reporting workflows, and business system utilization.
• Support audit, tax, and compliance-related requests by organizing documentation and responding to information needs in a timely manner.• Strong background in private equity accounting, with experience supporting fund structures and related financial reporting.
• Experience managing accounting for a management company in addition to investment fund accounting responsibilities.
• Knowledge of private equity real estate accounting is highly valued.
• Demonstrated expertise in month-end close, financial reporting, cash flow analysis, and capital management.
• Prior experience overseeing or mentoring accounting staff, including review of deliverables and daily guidance.
• CPA designation is preferred.
• Familiarity with business systems and accounting platforms used to support reporting and operational controls.
