Job Title: Framing Foreman / Journeyman Framer
Job Description
This role focuses on building the structural skeleton of new buildings on active construction sites in the Ventura and Ojai areas. You will interpret blueprints, lay out and frame floors, walls, and roofs, and ensure all work meets strict safety and building code requirements. The initial assignment is a new construction project lasting approximately 2–3 months, with additional projects lined up through the end of the year and opportunities to continue on future builds as part of a growing team.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and architectural drawings to plan and lay out dimensions for floors, walls, door and window openings, and roof systems.
- Perform layout and planning for framing work, ensuring accurate measurements and efficient use of materials.
- Construct floors and subfloors by installing sill plates, floor joists, rim joists, and subflooring materials on foundations.
- Frame and raise wood or metal stud walls, partition walls, and load-bearing headers, ensuring all components are plumb, square, and level.
- Cut and erect ceiling joists, rafters, trusses, and roof decking to complete roof framing systems.
- Operate power tools and hand tools, including framing nailers, circular saws, levels, and framing squares, safely and efficiently.
- Ensure all framing work complies with local building codes, structural specifications, and safety standards.
- Coordinate with other trades on the job site to maintain smooth workflow and project progress.
- Provide supervision and guidance to apprentices or helpers, including assigning tasks and monitoring quality of work.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following OSHA safety standards and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Use strong math and measuring skills to calculate angles, dimensions, and material quantities accurately.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, lifting and handling heavy lumber and materials as needed.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ojai, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
