Job Description
The Maintenance Technician serves as a hands-on technical expert within the Manufacturing Engineering Equipment Maintenance Department. In this role, you provide primary support to production by troubleshooting and resolving manufacturing equipment downtime, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring machinery operates at maximum output and reliability.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance on motors, pneumatics, conveyor systems, and production machines by following diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer instructions, and engineering specifications.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automated equipment malfunctions to minimize downtime and restore equipment to optimal performance.
- Dismantle devices and remove defective parts using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools, ensuring safe and proper handling of equipment.
- Control equipment downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques and monitoring adherence to maintenance procedures.
- Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventory by checking stock levels, anticipating needs, placing and expediting orders, and verifying receipt of materials.
- Use maintenance resources efficiently by selecting appropriate tools, equipment, and supplies to complete work effectively and cost-consciously.
- Prepare detailed mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing equipment information, failures, and performance trends.
- Stay current with technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing technical publications relevant to manufacturing equipment and maintenance practices.
- Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions taken, irregularities observed, and ongoing maintenance needs.
- Ensure a safe and clean working environment by following established procedures, rules, and regulations and promoting safe work practices.
- Work closely with Production and Engineering teams to monitor equipment status, performance, and recurring issues, and to prioritize maintenance activities.
- Proactively identify and address equipment problems using appropriate troubleshooting and repair techniques, including precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Accurately document all repairs performed, parts replaced, and adjustments made to maintain comprehensive equipment histories.
- Assess equipment performance and repair history and collaborate with engineers to develop and refine preventive maintenance schedules and equipment upgrade plans.
- Contribute to equipment upgrades and modifications as needed to improve reliability, performance, and manufacturability.
- Train technicians on proper maintenance procedures, troubleshooting techniques, safe equipment operation, and documentation standards.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 4–6 years of experience as a Production Maintenance Technician or in a similar maintenance role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills for automated mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic equipment.
- Hands-on experience performing preventive maintenance on motors, pneumatics, conveyor systems, and production machinery.
- Proficiency in interpreting operation manuals, diagrams, schematics, and engineering specifications.
- Solid understanding of mechanical alignment principles and their application in production equipment.
- Experience working with pneumatic actuators and cylinders in a manufacturing setting.
- Familiarity with electrical and electronic components, automation systems, robotics, sensors, fiber optics, and motors.
- Ability to use multimeters and other precision measuring and testing instruments to troubleshoot equipment problems.
- Basic proficiency with MS Office for documentation, reporting, and communication.
- Experience writing maintenance procedures and technical reports.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with production, engineering, and maintenance teams.
- Demonstrated ability to repair equipment in a timely manner under pressure and in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Competent use of hand tools and power tools for mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Four-year bachelor’s degree or two-year associate degree preferred, or equivalent work experience in a related technical field.
- Experience working in a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) environment.
- Knowledge of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and experience working with PLC-controlled equipment.
- Experience performing equipment Installation Qualification (IQ) protocols.
- Exposure to automation, robotics, and advanced manufacturing technologies.
- Strong documentation skills for maintaining accurate maintenance histories and equipment records.
- Ability to train and mentor other technicians on equipment maintenance and troubleshooting best practices.

Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing environment within a dedicated Equipment Maintenance Department, working closely with Production and Engineering teams. You work directly with automated production machinery, motors, conveyor systems, pneumatics, robotics, sensors, fiber optics, and PLC-controlled equipment. The position involves frequent use of hand tools, power tools, hoists, cranes, multimeters, and precision measuring and testing instruments. The environment requires adherence to established procedures, rules, and regulations to maintain a safe and clean workspace. Work hours may align with production schedules and may include responding to urgent equipment issues to minimize downtime.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Woodinville, WA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $36.00 - $38.30/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
