Certified Nursing Assistant – Inpatient Care

Job Type: Full-Time, Direct-Hire (Permanent placement on company payroll with immediate full benefits; not a temporary job)

Location: Pittsburgh, PA 15232 (On-site – Shadyside)

Schedule: Rotating Shifts (Day, evening, night, and weekend rotations supporting 24/7 inpatient unit operations)

New Hire Starting Base Pay: $19.40 – $22.09 per hour (Starting pay based on experience).

Future Earning Potential: Established employees have the opportunity to earn progressive pay increases up to $30.14 per hour over time through performance, tenure, and continuous learning.

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required; successful completion of a Nursing Assistant training program OR current enrollment in an accredited nursing program with completed inpatient clinical rotations.
  • Direct Patient Care Skills: Knowledge of proper body mechanics, safe transfer techniques, and assisting patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, feeding, ambulation, turning, and toileting.
  • Clinical Nursing Core Competencies: Ability to perform vital signs, point-of-care blood glucose testing, daily weights, intake & output (I&O) tracking, telemetry monitor application, urine specimen collection, and Foley catheter care under RN direction.
  • Certifications: Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential.
  • Shift Flexibility: Willingness and ability to work rotating shifts (including weekends and holidays) in a fast-paced inpatient hospital environment.
How You'll Make an Impact

  • Inpatient Care: Provide hands-on direct clinical care to stroke, neurovascular, and general neurology patients, reporting immediate changes in patient status to the primary RN.
  • Clinical Monitoring & Safety: Obtain and record vital signs, blood glucose readings, weights, and telemetry tracking in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) while conducting safety checks and fall prevention interventions.
  • Unit Operations & Environmental Support: Keep patient rooms, hallways, and supply areas clean, organized, and restocked with medical equipment and daily supplies.
  • Diversional Care & Companion Oversight: Provide 1-on-1 direct supervision or diversional activities for high-risk patients to ensure safety and prevent the need for physical restraints.
  • Interdisciplinary Teamwork: Assist care teams with intra-hospital transport, call light responses, meal tray distribution, and general clerical/unit support.
