Civil Engineer, PE - Site Development & Land Development

Great Bay Staffing Group
Charleston, WV, US Full Time

Job Description

Job Description

$120,000 - $180,000
Charleston, West Virginia

The Opportunity

This is a chance to take responsible charge of your own project designs rather than executing someone else's. You'll lead small to moderate design teams on site development work, own the technical decisions from hydrologic modeling through post-construction stormwater management, and coordinate directly with regulatory agencies rather than routing everything through a project manager.

The firm works across educational, commercial/retail, industrial, governmental, institutional, and sports design projects, so the work stays varied rather than repetitive.

Why You'll Love This Role

You'll be responsible for the economic well-being of your assigned project designs, not just the technical drawings, giving you real ownership over outcomes. Project variety spans site development, public utilities, water resources, master planning, and pavement management, so you're not stuck doing the same design type project after project.

You'll work alongside in-house architects, engineers, and technicians rather than juggling outside consultants, which means faster answers and tighter coordination on multidisciplinary projects.

Your Day-to-Day
  • Perform hydrologic modeling and stormwater runoff calculations
  • Conduct horizontal alignment, vertical alignment, and cross-sectional design
  • Handle site layout, grading, and utility design
  • Design sediment and erosion control, sanitary and storm sewer systems, and post-construction stormwater management systems
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies and document design changes
  • Lead small to moderate design teams on site development projects
  • Collaborate across design disciplines to deliver a cohesive final product
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.)
  • 4+ years of civil engineering experience
  • Background in site and land development, light to moderate roadway/access drive design, utility infrastructure design, and stormwater management design
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and hydrology/hydraulic calculation software
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, OneNote, Planner, and Project
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills
  • Comfortable managing multiple deadlines
Why Candidates Say Yes

The firm recently completed a merger and is growing, giving you the chance to build your project portfolio as the company scales rather than joining a plateaued operation. The culture is described as family oriented, and the firm has been recognized by PSMJ for performance, employee engagement, and retention, an industry benchmark most firms don't earn.

Ready to Apply?

If leading your own site development projects and working inside a growing, multidisciplinary firm sounds like the right next step, we'd love to talk.

Great Bay Staffing represents candidates with complete confidentiality. Your resume will never be shared with a client without your knowledge and approval.
