Position Overview

Spring River Rehabilitation & Care Center is seeking dedicated and compassionate Certified Medication Aides (CMAs) to join our nursing team.

Under the supervision of licensed nursing staff, the CMA is responsible for safely and accurately administering medications within authorized scope, monitoring residents for changes or potential medication reactions, maintaining appropriate documentation, and assisting residents with routine care needs.

This position is ideal for a dependable healthcare professional who takes pride in accuracy, resident safety, and compassionate care while working collaboratively with nurses, CNAs, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer prescribed medications accurately and timely in accordance with provider orders, facility policies, and applicable New Mexico requirements

  • Maintain accurate and timely medication administration records and required documentation

  • Observe residents for medication effectiveness, adverse reactions, changes in condition, or other concerns and promptly report findings to licensed nursing staff

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) and routine care needs within authorized scope

  • Obtain and document resident information and observations as assigned

  • Respond promptly and professionally to resident requests and care needs

  • Communicate effectively with licensed nurses regarding resident status, medication concerns, and changes in condition

  • Follow established procedures for medication storage, handling, security, and documentation

  • Maintain resident dignity, privacy, comfort, and independence while providing care

  • Follow infection prevention, resident safety, and facility protocols

  • Maintain confidentiality of resident health information

  • Collaborate with nursing staff and interdisciplinary team members to support individualized resident care

  • Follow all facility policies and applicable federal and New Mexico requirements

Qualifications
  • Current and active Medication Aide certification in the State of New Mexico

  • Current and active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification, as required for the position

  • Certifications must be maintained in good standing

  • Previous experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, assisted living, or another healthcare environment preferred

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to medication accuracy and resident safety

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities

  • Ability to work effectively under the supervision and direction of licensed nursing staff

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment

  • Dependable, compassionate, and committed to providing resident-centered care

  • Ability to work assigned schedules, with day and evening opportunities available
