Compensation: $23.00–$30.00 per hour

Position Summary
The Dyno Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring dynamometer testing equipment to evaluate engine and vehicle performance. This role supports engineering and product development teams by executing precise testing procedures, collecting and analyzing test data, identifying potential issues, and maintaining testing equipment. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with dynamometer testing, strong troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to safety and accuracy.
Job Duties / Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor engine dynamometers and associated testing equipment in accordance with established testing procedures and protocols.
- Perform testing activities to evaluate engine performance, durability, efficiency, and other performance characteristics.
- Monitor test conditions and equipment performance to ensure accurate and reliable results.
- Collect, record, and analyze test data to identify trends, abnormalities, and potential performance issues.
- Prepare detailed test reports and communicate findings to engineers and other technical team members.
- Collaborate with engineering, testing, and technical teams to incorporate test results into product development and improvement activities.
- Troubleshoot testing equipment and identify potential causes of unexpected test results or equipment issues.
- Perform routine maintenance, inspection, and calibration of dynamometer equipment and related systems.
- Assist with developing and improving testing procedures to increase accuracy, efficiency, and repeatability.
- Maintain accurate testing documentation and records.
- Follow all established safety procedures and regulatory requirements while performing testing operations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe testing environment.
- Support additional testing and engineering activities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience operating engine dynamometers or similar automotive testing equipment.
- Technical or vocational education in engineering, automotive technology, mechanical technology, or a related field preferred.
- Strong understanding of engine testing procedures and dynamometer operations.
- Ability to collect, interpret, and document technical test data.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to identify equipment or test abnormalities and take appropriate corrective action.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to testing accuracy.
- Understanding of workplace safety procedures and requirements for laboratory or testing environments.
- Ability to work effectively with engineers, technicians, and cross-functional teams.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn specialized testing and data acquisition systems.
Desired / Preferred Skills
- Experience with engine dynamometers, chassis dynamometers, or vehicle testing equipment.
- Knowledge of automotive powertrain systems, engine controls, and performance testing.
- Experience with data acquisition systems and test automation software.
- Familiarity with automotive diagnostic tools and instrumentation.
- Experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation issues.
- Knowledge of emissions, durability, performance, or powertrain testing.
- Experience working in an automotive engineering, research, development, or testing environment.
- Understanding of alternative powertrain technologies, including hybrid and electric vehicle systems.
- Strong analytical and technical problem-solving abilities.
