Production Associate

Location: Auburn Hills, MI
Department: Manufacturing / Production
Reports To: Production Supervisor

Position Summary

Mahindra Automotive North America is seeking a dependable and motivated Production Associate to support manufacturing and assembly operations. This position is responsible for assembling components, operating production equipment, performing quality inspections, and ensuring production goals are met safely and efficiently. The Production Associate plays a key role in maintaining product quality, supporting continuous improvement efforts, and contributing to overall manufacturing success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assemble vehicle components and subassemblies according to work instructions, engineering specifications, and quality standards.
  • Operate production equipment, machinery, hand tools, and power tools safely and efficiently.
  • Perform quality inspections and identify defects or nonconforming products.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, quality concerns, and safety issues to supervision.
  • Meet daily production targets while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S practices.
  • Assist with material handling and inventory movement as needed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and problem-solving activities.
  • Collaborate with supervisors, quality personnel, and team members to achieve production objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3 to 5 years of manufacturing, assembly, or production experience, preferably in an automotive environment.
  • Experience operating manufacturing equipment and production machinery.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions and manufacturing documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Excellent attendance, reliability, and work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in automotive manufacturing or assembly operations.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
  • Familiarity with quality inspection procedures and manufacturing controls.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks involving hands and arms.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach as required.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing and assembly plant environment.
  • Exposure to machinery, noise, and varying temperatures.
  • Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required to support production schedules.
