Lead Ophthalmic Technician Tulsa, OK (Onsite) Job Type: Contract-to-Hire Schedule: Full-Time Position Summary A busy ophthalmology practice is seeking an experienced Lead Ophthalmic Technician to provide clinical support while helping guide and mentor the technician team. This is a working lead role that combines hands-on patient care with daily team coordination, training, and workflow support. The ideal candidate has strong ophthalmic clinical skills, leadership abilities, and a passion for delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and support to ophthalmic technicians.
  • Assist with technician scheduling, clinic flow, and workflow coordination.
  • Train, mentor, and support new and existing clinical staff.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for testing, procedures, equipment, and physician protocols.
  • Obtain patient histories, perform ophthalmic testing, and assist physicians with patient care.
  • Monitor clinic operations and help resolve patient, provider, and workflow concerns.
  • Promote consistent clinical standards, documentation, and quality patient care.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control guidelines.
  • Travel to satellite clinic locations as needed.
Qualifications Required
  • Minimum of 1 year of ophthalmic technician experience.
  • Strong knowledge of ophthalmic testing, terminology, procedures, and equipment.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Preferred
  • Previous lead, training, or supervisory experience.
  • COA or COT certification (JCAHPO).
  • Experience with EMR systems and medical office operations.
