Associate Therapist- Substance Use Treatment
Job Description
## About the Position
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Associate Therapist to join our
substance use treatment team. This role is ideal for a recently graduated clinician
working toward full licensure (LCSW, LMFT, or LPCC) who is passionate about helping
individuals navigate recovery from substance use disorders. The Associate Therapist
will provide individual, group, and/or family therapy under the supervision of a licensed
clinical supervisor, in accordance with California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS)
requirements.
## Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and diagnostic evaluations for
clients presenting with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health
conditions
- Develop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans in collaboration with
clients and the multidisciplinary team
- Provide individual, group, and/or family therapy using evidence-based modalities (e.g.,
CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, Relapse Prevention, Trauma-Informed Care)
- Facilitate psychoeducational and process groups related to substance use, recovery,
and relapse prevention
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation (progress notes,
treatment plans, discharge summaries) in accordance with Title 22, DHCS, and payer
requirements
- Coordinate care with case managers, medical staff, psychiatrists, and outside
providers
- Participate in weekly individual and group clinical supervision as required for BBS
registration
- Respond to crisis situations, conduct risk assessments, and implement safety planning
as needed
- Support clients with discharge planning, aftercare, and referrals to appropriate levels
of care (e.g., ASAM criteria)
- Attend staff meetings, case consultations, and required trainings
