Work Schedule

8–12 hours per month (2 days per month, 8 hrs each), 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. EST. Agreed-upon schedules are made months in advance. Contract employment terms.


Required Qualifications

• Associate of Science degree (or higher) in Diagnostic Medical Sonography from an accredited program

• Current state licensing

• Current ARDMS certification

• 1–2 years of experience minimum


Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations in accordance with provider orders and established imaging standards to support accurate diagnosis

• Capture high-quality 3D/4D images

• Acquire and analyze diagnostic ultrasound images and data, ensuring complete, high-quality studies for radiologist interpretation

• Verify patient identity, confirm exam appropriateness, and obtain relevant clinical history prior to performing examinations

• Position patients and operate ultrasound equipment safely and effectively, adjusting technical factors and scanning techniques to obtain optimal diagnostic images

• Protect patient privacy, dignity, and comfort

• Maintain accurate documentation in EMR and PACS systems and collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure continuity of patient care

• Use sound clinical judgment and clarify unclear orders

• Adhere to all safety, sanitation, and infection-control protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area

Knowledge & Abilities

• Required to use computer systems for data entry and retrieval; must have basic computer skills (required)

• Must possess patient care and communication skills to effectively deal with patients across different age groups, including handling sensitive issues in a calm and professional manner (required)

• Must be able to read, write, and speak conversational English (required); bilingual in Spanish (preferred)

• Required to learn and use radiology software packages, PACS applications, and EMR systems, with the ability to quickly adapt to departmental policies and procedures (required)

• Must maintain responsibility for continuing education and annual education requirements, and keep all required registries and licenses up to date to perform imaging procedures (required)

• Ability to perform various ultrasound procedures independently without constant supervision, demonstrating appropriate technical skills in ultrasound (required)

• Must have the ability to recognize subtle differences between healthy and pathological areas, and have knowledge of anatomy, physiology, patient care, and medical ethics (required)

• Expected to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, demonstrating flexibility, reliability, sound judgment, and initiative; must be familiar with age-specific criteria and demonstrate competency in all applicable areas (required)

• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills required, with the ability to communicate effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and ages (required)

• Maintain a clean and organized workspace and notify supervisor when supplies are running low (required)

• Experience with specialized sonographic procedures such as breast, prostate, or vascular ultrasound imaging (preferred)
