Job Description

About the role

Our practice treats nerve, foot, and ankle conditions, and we're hiring a medical assistant to cover both the front desk and the clinical side. The front desk portion is check-in and check-out, scheduling, insurance verification, and patient messages. The clinical portion is rooming patients, taking X-rays, setting up procedure trays, and assisting the doctor during procedures and injections.

It's a good fit for a medical assistant who wants patient contact on both the administrative and clinical sides of the office.

  • Verify ID, insurance, and demographic information
  • Scan and upload documents into the patient's chart
  • Take copays, balances, and other payments, including those that come through the office printer and payment system
  • Handle insurance paperwork and related admin
  • Keep patient information private under HIPAA

Clinical

  • Room patients and prepare them for the doctor
  • Take diagnostic X-rays per provider order and office protocol
  • Turn over exam and treatment rooms between patients
  • Set up procedure trays with the instruments, supplies, medications, and paperwork
  • Assist during exams, procedures, and injections
  • Prep patients and rooms for MLS, RedVive, CET, and EPAT
  • Draw and prepare injections under provider direction and office protocol
  • Go over treatment instructions with patients as the doctor directs

Charting and messages

  • Work day to day in ModMed and Klara
  • Document procedures, treatments, and progress notes accurately, and close charts promptly
  • Answer patient messages and route clinical questions to the right person
  • Keep patients moving through the office

Rooms and supplies

  • Restock exam and treatment rooms daily
  • Watch supply levels and flag what needs to be ordered
  • Keep clinical areas clean and ready for the next patient

What we're looking for

  • Medical assistant certification preferred
  • Experience in a medical office, ideally covering both front and back office work
  • Comfortable taking X-rays
  • ModMed and Klara experience is a real plus; solid experience on another EMR works too
  • Accurate with documentation and able to keep several things straight at once
  • Knows HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements
  • Willing to step in wherever the help is needed that day
