Expected Schedule: Monday, Wednesday–Saturday; 10am-6pm
Full-Time | Occasional evenings and additional hours during busy event periods

Special Events Alaska is an event rental company that helps make weddings, corporate events, fairs, and other celebrations happen. We rent tents, tables, chairs, linens, lighting, balloons, décor, and more, and we handle everything from getting the equipment ready to delivering and setting it up.

We're looking for a Retail & Rental Manager to run the day-to-day operations of our store and rental department. This is a hands-on position for someone who likes working with people, staying busy, keeping things organized, and figuring things out when something doesn't go as planned.

You'll work directly with the owner and help manage a small team of 1–5 employees. You'll work with customers, manage rental orders, schedule employees, keep the store organized, work with vendors, and help make sure our customers have what they need for their events.

What You'll Do

• Lead, train, and support a small team of retail and rental employees
• Help customers choose the right rentals and products for their events
• Manage rental reservations from the initial inquiry through pickup or return
• Coordinate rental schedules, deliveries, pickups, and other logistics with the operations team
• Create employee schedules and make sure the store is properly staffed
• Work with vendors to order products and keep things in stock
• Keep the store, showroom, and rental inventory clean and organized
• Check rental equipment to make sure it's clean, complete, and ready to go
• Handle customer questions and problems and find solutions when things don't go according to plan
• Use our rental management software to keep orders, inventory, and customer information organized
• Look for ways to make things run smoother and make the customer experience better
• Work with the owner and field crew to make sure events are ready to go

Balloons & Creative Services

Balloons are becoming an important part of what we offer, and we'd like this person to help us continue building that side of the business.

• Help customers choose balloon décor for weddings, birthdays, corporate events, grand openings, fairs, and other events
• Create balloon arrangements, garlands, arches, and other balloon décor
• Take balloon orders and keep track of balloon supplies and inventory
• Help customers put together balloon designs that match their event colors and theme
• Come up with new balloon and décor ideas that we can offer customers
• Keep the balloon and décor area of the store clean and organized

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is reliable, friendly, organized, and willing to jump in and help wherever needed.

This isn't a job where you'll sit at a desk all day. Some days you'll be helping a customer plan their wedding rentals, other days you'll be working on balloon décor, organizing inventory, dealing with a vendor, or helping the crew get ready for a big event.

Qualifications

• Good customer service and communication skills
• Comfortable leading and working with a small team
• Organized and good at keeping track of multiple things at once
• Good at solving problems and figuring things out
• Comfortable using computers and learning new software
• Positive attitude and good work ethic
• Able to work on your own but also work well with a team
• Previous retail, rental, hospitality, event, or supervisory experience is a plus
• Experience with rental management software is a plus
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Valid driver's license preferred
• Available to work Monday and Wednesday–Saturday
• Able to work occasional evenings or additional hours during busy event periods

What It's Like Working Here

Every day is a little different. You might spend the morning helping a couple figure out what they need for their wedding, make some balloon décor in the afternoon, and then help get rental orders ready for a weekend event.

We work hard, stay pretty busy, and have a lot of moving parts. We're looking for someone who takes pride in their work, shows up ready to get things done, and doesn't mind getting their hands dirty when needed.
