Job Description

Mechanical Engineer

Location: Washington, DC (with periodic time at sea)

Type: Full-Time

Compensation: $130,000 - $150,000

AGF Talent is leading the search for a Mechanical Engineer on behalf of a fast-growing company building a first-of-its-kind class of energy-generating infrastructure.

The Opportunity

This organization is building a first-of-its-kind class of energy-generating infrastructure, blending mechanical design, marine engineering, and first-principles problem solving in ways that haven't been done before.

As the Mechanical Engineer, you'll own the structural and mechanical systems that hold everything together and keep it working in a demanding environment. Heat exchangers, structures, piping, mechanical interfaces between subsystems: if it's metal and it matters, it's yours. You'll work closely with the rest of the engineering team to make sure everything integrates cleanly and holds up under real-world conditions.

If you love ambiguous, hands-on problems and want to build something that's never existed before, this is about as ground-floor as it gets.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Designing structural and mechanical systems for the platform, including frames, supports, enclosures, piping, and mechanical interfaces
  • Performing structural analysis and ensuring designs meet load, fatigue, and corrosion requirements for demanding operating conditions
  • Getting hands-on with production and fabrication processes, including structural welding, pipe fabrication, and heat exchanger assembly, and knowing what survives the shop floor versus what only looks good in CAD
  • Owning material selection and mechanical integrity for environments involving saltwater exposure, vibration, and thermal cycling

What You Bring

  • A B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering
  • Hands-on structural and mechanical design experience, including experience actually building things, not just analyzing them
  • Comfort with FEA tools and CAD, along with the judgment to know when a model is wrong
  • Willingness to spend periodic time at sea as part of platform testing and validation

What's In It For You

  • Competitive salary of $130,000-$150,000
  • Meaningful equity in a fast-growing company
  • Generous relocation assistance for candidates relocating from anywhere in the US
  • A seat at the ground floor of an entirely new category of infrastructure

If you're ready to help build something that's never been built before, we'd love to hear from you.
