1ST & 2ND SHIFT PRINTER OPERATOR
Job Description
This position is responsible for setting up and operating a semi-automatic press according to written and/or verbal instructions, established by company procedures, safety and quality guidelines.
Supervisory Responsibilities- None.
Press Operations
- Reading Job Ticket to verify quantity to be run, overrun tolerance, color sequence, and paper stock.
- Verifying size, color, and type of substrate, as well as color of ink from Job Ticket.
- Printing proof sheets, checking registration and color matches against the Job Ticket, and securing Manager approval prior to the production run.
- Collecting production run samples as required.
- Ensuring quality assurance by continuous inspection of job specifications.
- Adhering to all SOPs, Safety, PPE, Productivity, and 6S requirements.
- Performing and completing all other work duties as assigned, including helping in other departments as needed.
- Press Uptime: Maintain press uptime of 90% or greater during scheduled production shifts by minimizing setup delays and unplanned downtime.
- First-Pass Quality Rate: Achieve a first-pass approval rate of 95% or higher on proof sheets, reducing reprints and material waste.
- Production Output: Meet or exceed daily job ticket targets as established by the Print Manager for quantity and throughput.
- Waste Reduction: Keep paper and ink waste within the department's established tolerance levels on a per-job basis.
- Safety Compliance: Zero recordable safety incidents per quarter, with full adherence to PPE and 6S standards at all times.
- Good judgment of color, design, layout, and print specifications.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Ability to count, add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions from written and oral communications.
- Basic computer skills.
Required
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Two to three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Printing or press operation experience preferred.

- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach, talk, and hear; regularly required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.

- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- Regularly exposed to fumes, hazardous chemicals, and heat.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided where necessary.
