CUTTING OPERATOR
Job Description
The Cutting Operator runs various machines in the cutting department to a level that meets or exceeds department expectations for quality, safety, and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Operation & Quality
- Operating all equipment in the area of responsibility, including: drill press, panel saw, table saw, radial arm saw, heat bender, die cutter, I-cut, guillotine cutter, sheeter, router, scoring table, drill table, and slitter.
- Completing pre- and post-cuts on material within tolerance levels.
- Reading job tickets thoroughly and interpreting job task requirements before starting.
- Cutting each piece of material within QC requirements.
- Inspecting each piece for Quality Control.
- Performing and completing all tasks assigned in a timely manner.
- Maintaining a safe and clean working area at all times.
- Storing all materials in a manner that promotes cleanliness and organization.
- Using supplies in a cost-effective manner.
- Adhering to all productivity, SOP, safety, 6S, and PPE requirements.
- Performing and completing all other work duties as assigned, including assisting in other departments as needed.
- Cut Accuracy: Achieve a cut tolerance compliance rate of 98% or higher, ensuring all pieces meet QC specifications before moving to the next production stage.
- Daily Throughput: Meet or exceed the established pieces-per-shift target as set by the Operations Manager for the assigned machine(s).
- Scrap & Material Waste: Keep material scrap and waste within the department's established per-job tolerance levels, using supplies in a cost-effective manner.
- Safety Compliance: Zero recordable safety incidents per quarter, with consistent use of PPE and adherence to all SOP and 6S standards.
- Area Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and organized work area, with 6S audit scores meeting or exceeding the department standard on every inspection.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats.
- Basic math skills.
- Basic PC skills.
- Ability to operate cutting equipment safely and accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality control.
Required
- High School diploma or GED required.
Preferred
- Cutting machine operating experience preferred.

Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle equipment, reach, talk, and hear.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- This position works in a clean, fast-paced, high-efficiency manufacturing environment.
- May be required to work near moving mechanical parts.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided where necessary.
- Position is required to meet established standards/rates for the particular process being performed.
