Yard Mule Driver – Dayton

The Yard Mule Driver is responsible for safely moving trailers and containers within the yard, warehouse, and dock areas of a freight forwarding and logistics operation. This position ensures efficient trailer flow, timely dock assignments, and safe transportation of containers and trailers between designated locations on company property.

Operate a yard mule/terminal tractor to move trailers and containers safely throughout the facility

Position trailers at loading docks for shipping and receiving operations

Move empty and loaded containers to designated staging areas

Perform trailer checks and verify trailer/container numbers

Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on yard equipment

Maintain communication with dispatch, warehouse personnel, and shipping teams regarding trailer movement and dock availability

Ensure compliance with all company safety procedures and DOT regulations as applicable

Report equipment damage, maintenance issues, or safety concerns immediately

Maintain an organized and efficient trailer yard

Assist with other warehouse or logistics duties as needed

Previous experience operating a yard mule, terminal tractor, or similar equipment preferred

Experience in freight forwarding, logistics, transportation, or warehouse operations preferred

Ability to back trailers safely and efficiently in tight spaces

Valid driver’s license required; CDL may be preferred depending on operations

Strong attention to detail and safety awareness

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities

Good communication and teamwork skills

Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions

Ability to sit, climb, bend, and enter/exit equipment frequently

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally

Ability to work extended hours, weekends, or overtime as needed

Outdoor yard and warehouse environment

Exposure to moving equipment, varying weather conditions, and heavy freight activity
