POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Early Head Start/Head Start Education Manager, the Head Start Education Coordinator oversees and directs the planning, organizing, and implementation of educational services which inclusively promotes school readiness for enrolled families by providing technical assistance, mentoring, and training to all Child and Family Service staff in accordance with the Head Start Program Performance Standards and Local and State regulations. The coordination of these comprehensive services includes the supervision of mentor coaches, monitoring the fidelity of use with various tools including but not limited to the Environmental Rating Scales, PreK CLASS our ongoing assessment system, and the HS curriculum.

The Head Start Education Coordinator ensures that all program components are culturally and linguistically relevant, developmentally appropriate and maximize the developmental progression of each enrolled student physically, social and emotionally, and cognitively while recognizing and supporting parents as the primary educator of their children. The Head Start Education Coordinator will support the Center for Transforming Lives mission by ensuring that all aspects of the HS program run efficiently, bringing a rich educational experience for children and families.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
BA/BS or MA in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or a closely related field; minimum of three to five years of experience coordinating/coaching/mentoring in a child development/classroom setting. Master’s Degree is preferred.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:
1. Maintain awareness of trends and best practices and is proactive in continually acquiring knowledge in fields related to children and families, poverty and homelessness and early childhood development and education

2. Perform the functions of this position with a strong understanding of the Head Start Program Performance Standards; Head Start child development outcomes; and thorough knowledge and application of Developmentally Appropriate Practices.

3. Promote effective teaching practices in early childhood education based on Head Start Program Performance Standards, Environment Rating Scales, the Texas PreK Guidelines and other prescribed frameworks used by the Head Start program.

4. Supervise all classroom practices - room arrangement, lesson plans, daily schedules, routines, and transitions to assure their adherence to program policies

5. Participate in CTL meetings and on committees as required and appropriate

6. Promotes unified, team-oriented atmosphere in all communications and actions

7. Participates in recruitment, onboarding and hiring process of new staff

8. Plan and present training sessions on relevant child development topics based on program data/monitoring outcomes.

9. Provide direct supervision to mentor coaches

10. Keep current on Early Childhood Education evidence-based practices by attending relevant meetings as requested of the Early Head Start/Head Start Education Manager.

11. Perform all other duties as assigned
